Regarding knowledge transfer and education, the IHU HealthAge will become a teaching and reference center for healthy longevity in several ways.
ICOPE
It already established a national and international teaching center for ICOPE, including health-care professionals but also the empowerment of the individual to self-monitor the six ICOPE functions. As W.H.O collaboraitve center for frailty, clinical research & gerosciense and geriatric training we are developing large educational programme in cluding emerging countries were ageing will growth even faster.
CARe « Cancer, Ageing and Rejuvenation » programme (Master-PhD)
CARe is an international teaching and research center in Toulouse in the fields of cancer and ageing (Manager: Philippe Valet)- https://care-graduateschool.fr/
CARE draws on the excellence of LabEx TOUCAN, Gérontopôle (WHO reference geriatric center) and IUCT (Institut Universitaire du Cancer), as well as a network of international academic and industrial partnerships. The aim is to offer innovative teaching in the fields of cancer, ageing and bioengineering in Toulouse. This original programme, working closely with Toulouse’s research centers, aims to stimulate scientific innovation, from fundamental concepts to industrial and medical applications. Thanks to public-private partnerships, CARE offers a unique range of educational programmes, from masters to doctorate, involving all academic, industrial and socio-economic players. Strong interaction with foreign universities involved in CARE promotes the flow of incoming and outgoing students by financing their mobility and establishing future competitive networks.
Healthy Ageing and Geroscience Master programme
Since January 2024, a Geroscience Master programme has been initiated for the IHU HealthAge between basic science and clinical science leadership, and enrolled first PhD students (Managers: Sophie Guyonnet, Cédric Dray). https://www.univ-tlse3.fr/master-parcours-vieillissement-en-sante-geroscience
This programme aims to provide in-depth knowledge on:
- The different trajectories of ageing (definition of biological age vs. chronological age)
- The associated factors (early biological and clinical markers, individual behaviours, environmental determinants)
- Preventive strategies, both medicinal and non-medicinal, for healthy ageing.
The course covers innovative models of healthcare organisation and/or specific care for older adults (new technologies, connected tools, self-assessment, defining personalised goals, links with the silver economy), as well as innovative and specific aspects of clinical research in the field of ageing (translational research, creation and management of cohorts, digital cohorts, etc.). The uniqueness of this programme lies in offering a comprehensive view, from understanding the fundamental mechanisms of ageing to practical clinical application.
This Master’s programme (Master 1 – Master 2) is accredited by the Biology Health Department of the University of Toulouse 3 – Paul Sabatier.
